Manganese is widely distributed in nature and exists in various ores and silicate rocks, including oxides pyrolusite, romanechite, manganite, braunite, hausmannite and rhodochrosite. They all contain 50-70% manganese content, being regarded as the important industrial minerals of manganese.
The grade of manganese ore varies greatly in different areas. Manganese-rich ore resources are mainly concentrated in South Africa, Gabon, Brazil and Australia. The low-grade manganese, about 35%-40 %, mainly in Ukraine, China and Ghana, it needs to be beneficiated and artificially enriched before it can be sold as a commodity ore (grade more than 35%).
Washing is the separation of ore from slurry using hydraulic washing or additional mechanical scrubbing. Common equipment trommel screen, circular vibrating scree，high-Frequency Screen.
The washing operation is often accompanied by screening, such as washing directly on the vibrating screen or feeding the ore obtained by the washing machine to the vibrating screen. Screening can be used as a stand-alone operation to separate products of different particle sizes and grades for different uses.
At present, gravity separation is only used to separate manganese ore with simple structure and coarse particle size, especially manganese oxide ore with high density. Commonly used methods are chute sorting, shaking table sorting, jigging sorting and heavy medium sorting.
The technological process of dealing with manganese oxide ore is generally crushing the ore to 6 ~ 0 mm or 10 ~ 0 mm, then classification, jigging at the coarse level and shaking at the fine level.
Manganese ore is a weak magnetic mineral, which can be recovered from a high magnetic field concentrator with a magnetic field strength of Ho 800～1600KA/M (10000～20000oe). Generally, the grade of manganese can be improved by 4%～10%.
Magnetic separation is widely used to separate various manganese ores because of its simple operation, easy control and strong adaptability. Has developed a variety of new coarse, medium and fine grain magnetic machine. At present, the medium-grain high-intensity magnetic separator is the most widely used, followed by the coarse-grain and fine-grain high-intensity magnetic separator.
The manganese ore dressing process is mainly carried out by combining gravity separation and magnetic separation, and the jig and high intensity magnetic separator are used for joint separation of manganese ore.
The strong magnetic-flotation process in the manganese ore beneficiation process is suitable for low manganese, low phosphorus and high iron manganese ore based on manganese carbonate ore. In the grinding process, rod mills and ball mills are the main equipment. Magnetic separation equipment, inflatable flotation machine can be selected in the flotation equipment.
